On weekends we would hang out in your parents' furnished basement, walls clad in that 1970's cedar panelling that everyone else had ripped out by now. We loved leaning against it's warmth, singing while you played the guitar. We were all going to different colleges in the fall and a sadness simmered just under the surface of our excitement for what was to come.
