It was my last summer working at the art museum and I was now interning as a collection photographer alongside the rest of the staff who were working on preserving, cleaning, and documenting pieces of east asian art from across China, Korea, and Japan. I spent dozens of hours every week with these pieces and across many of them, I would spot recurring themes and images, my favorite was the orange and black spotted koi.

This is the most beautiful scent. A rich curry, but make it a sexy perfume, if you will. The coconut shines through, as does the turmeric, and the sticky rice note is simply scrumptious. I cannot and will not stop wearing this, nor will it be out of my scent wardrobe between seasons.
Another fragrance I had to try simply because it had an animal name. This one leans sticky and sugary, which my brain immediately interprets as kettle corn and mango vape juice. I can pick out the lemongrass and sticky rice if you tell me they’re there- but overall it comes across as a very jumpy kettle corn scent.
To me, it smells like an orange-tinted fall festival filled with sweets and fairground vendors. Maybe even a kettle corn stand with someone ripping a mango vape nearby. Fun, vivid, and definitely a mood, just not quite my style
I had received a 10ml of Calico Koi from a friend and I immediately knew I had to have a full sized bottle! Such a gorgeously blended fragrance. It's warm and comforting and it brings a smile to my face every time I catch a whiff of it. Intimate projection with moderate longevity but you'll want to spray it again and again just to enjoy the scent journey! Can't wait to try more from this brand.
A savory gourmand yet still comforting. Starts off with a sort of green citrus smell due to lemon grass and dives into a beautiful sweet lactonic rice scent.
Savory Gourmand is the best way to describe this, but no description will ever do this fragrance justice. You must experience it for yourself. I've smelled almost every fragrance Zoe has released, and in my opinion, Calico Koi stands out as her most masterful work. This scent is seamlessly blended and balanced with percision. The imagery it evokes is the most vivid I've ever experienced from a fragrance and captures a quiet and intimate evening at a Omakase bar with wafts of soy sauce, ginger, rice and salty sea air. It is so intriguing and addictive, I can't get enough.
