It was my last summer working at the art museum and I was now interning as a collection photographer alongside the rest of the staff who were working on preserving, cleaning, and documenting pieces of east asian art from across China, Korea, and Japan. I spent dozens of hours every week with these pieces and across many of them, I would spot recurring themes and images, my favorite was the orange and black spotted koi.

Honestly when I had first read the notes of Calico Koi I was expecting something very herbal and similar to a relaxed banh mi shop near my house that quite literally smelled amazing and almost nostalgic for me. This scent transported me to a sweet, creamy yet earthy atmosphere that I could not get enough of! I will definitely be purchasing the full size!
Really loving Calico Koi, especially for the summer! I love a lemongrass note, and this scratches that itch in a big way. The toasted coconut and sticky rice are cozy but not in a heavy, warm way the way a lot of cozy fragrances can go. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do, but it’s really lovely.
Addicted to smelling this! This does come across as a sweet rice to me but the lemongrass & ginger bring great balance to it. Others have commented on it being a more savory perfume like walking into an amazing thai restaurant. If you enjoy fresh herbal spicy fragrances with a cozy rice base you will want to give this a try! Also love the label art as always! 10/10 do recommend! Also shipping went perfectly and appreciated the thoughtful packaging.

This was the new release I was by far the most excited about. lemongrass is a very nostalgic scent to me, my momma liked to drink it. Actually all of these notes were things that reminded me of my mom. The first thing that I thought of was tom yum soup when I smelled this. Not in a bad! And as much as tom yum reminds me of my hometown (Singapore), I don’t know if I want to smell like this. I guess I was hoping more for a chilled lemongrass drink (my mom loved them) and wasn’t expecting a more savory take on it. Defintely not a freshie and not my thing but a beautiful fragrance nonetheless. May need to try this out in warmer weather
