It was my last summer working at the art museum and I was now interning as a collection photographer alongside the rest of the staff who were working on preserving, cleaning, and documenting pieces of east asian art from across China, Korea, and Japan. I spent dozens of hours every week with these pieces and across many of them, I would spot recurring themes and images, my favorite was the orange and black spotted koi.

Savory Gourmand is the best way to describe this, but no description will ever do this fragrance justice. You must experience it for yourself. I've smelled almost every fragrance Zoe has released, and in my opinion, Calico Koi stands out as her most masterful work. This scent is seamlessly blended and balanced with percision. The imagery it evokes is the most vivid I've ever experienced from a fragrance and captures a quiet and intimate evening at a Omakase bar with wafts of soy sauce, ginger, rice and salty sea air. It is so intriguing and addictive, I can't get enough.
All the notes are all lovely together and convey such a comforting experience from when I lived overseas in Japan. The Sticky Rice notes is absolutely heavenly in this and reminds me of the markets that would be around during festivals. Must get a full size soon.
This is so unique, I’ve never smelled anything quite like this. It’s musky and slightly sweet, I can definitely smell the ginger and lemongrass, and there’s this starchiness from the rice that sticks throughout the wear. It’s very fresh and gourmand for sure, but not super “foodie”, meaning I think this could appeal to those who don’t like gourmands as much. This was a favorite from my discovery set and the first one I chose to full size.
I never liked "gourmands" because they are always sticky sweet caramel sugar bombs. This fragrance, however, creates a new facet where one can wear the beauty of tom kha kai and Thailand. Lemongrass, coconut, ginger, lime....Woven together and absolutely delectable. I get so many comments when i wear it because it is truly unique. Well done...will be getting full size.
